Some of the fruit of the classical approach is seen in the success of our speech and debate team in 2007-2008. - ACS team took 1st place in class 1A with 32 teams competing
- 14 ACS students qualified to compete at the state level in 10 different events
- ACS students were finalists in 7 of the 10 events
- State Champion Cross Examination team
- State Champion in Foreign Extemporaneous Speaking
- Took 2nd place in 3 events
- Placed 3rd in 3 events
The ACS speech and debate program has had students breaking into the state quarter finals or better every year since its beginning in 2000. The first team was formed by the current coach, Brad Swygard who was nominated by the Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activities Association as Speech Teacher of the Year in 2006.

The speech and debate program reinforces and enhances the classical education students receive at ACS. It is open to all ACS students in 7th-12th grades. All students can profit, not only the ones who win state championships. Forensics not only offers an advantage to individual students, it also benefits society as a whole.
